This position is for 2023-2024 school year.

 

Responsible for assisting teachers and schools with providing assistance in classroom instruction, student behavioral support, and providing for the health care needs of students during the school day in accordance with state laws and district regulations. 

 

School placement and schedule is evaluated periodically and determined based on need. Initial Placement for the 2023-2024 school year is Shepherdsville Elementary School.  

The position is 6.25 hours per day with 170 student instructional days, 4 paid holidays, 2 extended days and 7 Bullitt/planning days for a total of 183 days per year.  Contracted days will be adjusted depending upon start date. (Considered full time with benefits - see below)

   

  • Must have 48 semester hours, an Associates Degree or have a high school diploma or equivalent and have passed the paraeducator exam and provide a copy to HR upon recommendation to hire.

 

New employees to the district may bring in up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience. (NOTE:  It will be the responsibility of the applicant hired to submit the BCPS verification of experience form to their prior employer to complete and return to HR.)

 

Step 0: $14.85 per hour

Step 10: $18.28 per hour

 

Although Classified positions are paid on an hourly rate, salary is set up on a year-long contract and divided by the number of remaining paychecks.  This position is considered a ten month employee on the pay schedule.  4 paychecks will be paid at the end of June.
